| Developer ![]() | Euro-Chimaera - An Interview. Welcome to the second interview of the Star Wars Galaxies Emulation Communities. Today we spoke with Hinch of Euro-Chimarea and he gave us some insight into how the server will be run and gave us a bit of a "feel" into the administration of it. Enjoy! Euro-Chimaera -------------------- What impact will an official server of SWGEmu or SWG:ANH make to your plans? Hopefully none. We already know ANH have no intention of running their own server so they don't bother me SWGe do bother me though. Since they're more public with forums etc they have a captured audience to market to the fear is if they launch an "official" server that everyone will rush onto their server and leave us guys dead in the water. Now it may not happen like that but it also may only time will tell I guess. There's a rather interesting thread about it on here somewhere Will added content (planets, etc) be an option and if so, how will these additions be decided? We haven't really discussed adding additional planets. I think we'll probably stay with whatever is the default for whichever server we use so at least the basic pre-cu planets. I don't think we'll see any advantage of adding in additional planets aside from the further spreading out of population. Its very much going to be a case of suck it and see. If populations are large and can support additional planets (and there are some available) then I don't see why not my only real concern with this is requiring client patches to support additional planets I'd prefer not to get into having to issue client patches but we'll see. What added content will be a priority and what will be "cast aside?" We have no plans on adding any additional content, the plan is to run purely in vanilla pre-cu there may be a few bug fixes we implement to fix known long term bugs which may adjust gameplay slightly but we're not really interested in adding ontop of that. Jedi is a very touchy subject, how will it be dealt with? Please explain in detail the decisions you have made and the decisions yet to be made. We've briefly discussed jedi but not in detail as both emu teams are still a long way off us seeing any real results. While we have no intention of limiting numbers of jedi we are going to make it as hard as possible to get one so hopefully there'll only be 1 or 2 in the first year at least we want to encourage people to spread out and play the standard classes and will probably run events locked to specific classes to enhance that. As for how we're going to make it hard to get a jedi that will all come down to what options we have when configuring the various emu's and what scripting ability they give us to alter game behaviour What other changes will be made to the game? Starports Professions Crafting Non are currently being discussed or planned. We may end up tweaking attack vars and such so as to balance things out and we may end up adding in custom schematics to allow us to fill holes in weapon chains for balance but apart from that we've not discussed anything further. Again it all depends on what we can do with whichever emu is released. We may increase decay rates on items which would increase the throughput to crafters but that'll be a decision for when we have solid numbers it'd only really be required for low numbers to stop crafters running out of sales targets How will PvP be dealt with on your server? What changes do you plan to make to the PvP systems? And the PvE systems? Everything will be as it was pre-cu the only real change impacting this will be we'll really lower the drop rate of exceptional and legendary weapons as on live chim there were a couple of people running around with scary weapons that were near enough unstoppable we're not too keen on seeing these weapons live in the emu. ------------------- If you have any questions for Hinch or any of the other Euro-Chimera staff please send me a PM and we will have it for you when we can! |
