| Developer ![]() | True Galaxies - An Interview. We have yet another interview this time with Nom Anor at True Galaxies who was kind enough to talk to us! Nom: Quote:
Nothing will change on our end. We have very loyal members, just as any other community does. They like the way in which we run this community and will not be "jumping ship" just because something else is available. Having said this, I would expect people to test other servers if any happen to come online first. Will added content (planets, etc) be an option and if so, how will these additions be decided? Other planets are an option as we learned quite a while ago that there are unfinished planets still in the code. At least two of the emulator teams have already begun work on additional planets. All additional content (excluding missions and possibly some instances) will be decided by the True Galaxies community. SWG Pre-CU was a wonderful game, but it did need some love here and there. We aren't afraid to increase the longevity, as long as the core game isn't altered. What added content will be a priority and what will be "cast aside?" Missions, instances, and PvP content will always be priority. I can't say anything will be "cast aside" without a thorough look at how that content would change the way the game is played. As previously stated, the core game will not change. Other than that rule, we will entertain any idea. Jedi is a very touchy subject, how will it be dealt with? Please explain in detail the decisions you have made and the decisions yet to be made. Indeed, jedi is touchy. We have been through dozens of discussions, polls, and decisions. We know there will be no "lockouts" and that only in-game mechanics will be utilized. In other words, we won't introduce anything that was not originally in the span of Pre-CU. At this point, it is very difficult to say what we plan to do as one of the emu teams has already shared some plans that would overwrite our own, provided we use that team's code. We do have an unlock method on paper if needed. Only Netrex and myself will ever see it. As for how we make decisions on jedi, the community is polled about whatever concept we have on the table. With a solid majority vote, the decision is set. Past polls may be overwritten by new polls only because our player base or member activity changes. Balancing what the community wants with what we are able to accomplish is the main goal. We want Pre-CU as original as possible. Unfortunately, that is also determined by the code we receive. This means that in order to provide a jedi solution, the server code must have the ability to be altered toward that jedi solution. We do plan to add both PvE and PvP content for jedi that takes them away from the Galactic Civil War, as jedi in this timeline were almost extinct and could not participate for fear of annihilation by the Emperor. Having said this, it is a game, so the fun factor must be priority at all times. What other changes will be made to the game? Starports Professions Crafting There will be no anti-decay kits. Craftable items from post-CU may be added. Content for all professions will also be added, even ways for crafters to participate in the outcome of the GCW. As a side note, we have always tried to avoid the word "change." We don't intend to change anything, only add to what is already available. If you enjoyed Pre-CU, you "will" enjoy True Galaxies' version. We plan to take a look at a few professions, for instance Smuggler, because of the lack in care taken during development. We would like to see actual smuggling content and penalties for getting caught. Another area that has not been discussed is account management. Everyone will be limited to a single account with two or three characters. In the past, we concluded that two characters plus a jedi unlock would be sufficient. However, we may at any time poll the community again. People with multiple player family members or roommates in the same household will go through a simple verification process to allow for additional accounts "under one roof." This game relies on the community to provide a strong economy. For this reason, no one will be allowed unlimited character slots effectively making them self-reliant. How will PvP be dealt with on your server? What changes do you plan to make to the PvP systems? And the PvE systems? We have thoughts on adding space content for PvP. There will also "hopefully" be some instances added on the ground and possibly in space. PvE will stay pretty much the same with the addition of new missions and instances. Events should be a regular thing at TG provided that the community wants and participates in them. There also may be some cross server events with Euro-Chimaera once we see how feasible they are. In general, anything added to our server will begin implementation no earlier than 6 months into live. This will give us a good opportunity to catch bugs and areas lacking in content. The community is excellent in finding flaws that we can address. If you have any questions for Nom or any of the other True Galaxies staff please send me a PM and we will have it for you when we can! | |
